    Clair Oberly  1921 - 2001
The man and his quest: "....to build the best sailboat"

Clair Oberly devoted the better part of his life in creating the Mariner Ketches. His devotion shows very clearly in the construction of every Mariner built.
I had the honor of speaking with Clair in January of 2001 and I was totally amazed by the man's awareness,  even at that age.
Clair passed away only a couple of days after we spoke and I will live the rest of my life with these memories of the man who gave my family and I, such joy in owning a Mariner Ketch.

    Bill Kranidis

His Memorial service took place aboard "Oblivion" (a Mariner 32) off the coast of California.
