"Maeldun"
1969 Mariner 31 #30
Owners: Jon McDuffey - Seattle - USA
I bought Maeldun in Feb of 2005 at the Elliott Bay Marina in
Seattle, Her name was still "Spring Moon" at the
time.
When I got her, previous owner installed a new Vetus 33 Hp engine, which works
flawlessly, two new fuel tanks, and a good portion of the electrical system.
I've slowly gone through the boat up-grading here and their, mostly cosmetic
work.
I've install four new ports, rebuilt the cockpit doors, though I think I will
fabricate some new one out of starboard plastic, with a window to monitor
the radar and GPS from the helm. I've refinished the exterior trim, and am
currently refinishing the booms and fabricating new goosenecks, as well as
building a platform for the bow sprit, and upgrading all the running rigging.
Though the work has been slow, its comming along.
Future projects, are to paint the hull and new bottom paint, and well as coat
the deck with Durabak. Its very perment, but will never fail.
A little extra tip. I just finished stripping the toerail, and refinishing
with a product called teakgurad, its super easy to work with and gives a great
finish, will see how long the finish lasts. Its guaranteed not to chip, crack,
peel, or fade for one year. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
