We are the new owners of
the M31 hull #69, renamed "Scandia Dream." We have indeed dreamt of
owning a M31 for a number of years;
and, now, with my retirement, we have been fortunate enough to acquire the boat
from Mr. Wayne Cloonan of Moss Landing, where the boat is still moored.
We are in the process of updating her electronics, including
the installation of radar, installing new upholstery, updating the head, electrical
systems, wiring,
lighting, and water systems. We bought the boat in January of 2006 and we will
be returning to Moss Landing to haul her and repaint her bottom and topsides.
We will also be adding a bootstripe and finishing her brightwork. We
plan to cruise the California coast for a couple of summers and may then head
south to Mexico where we will explore the Sea of Cortez.
As for myself, I am a retired English
professor and freelance writer--I have written for most of the major sailing
magazines, and I expect to write of our
adventures on "Scandia." In fact, our experience purchasing "Scandia
Dream" will be published in a forthcoming issue of "Sailing."
