"Malaga"
1972 Mariner 31 , Hull#123

Owners: Tom & Jenise Alexander

Home port:  Palos Verdes, CA - USA

I Purchased Malaga in 1993 in Marina del Rey, Ca. from a young man named Craig Cotton.  I lived aboard her until 1998. In January of 1998 my girlfriend and I set sail on Malaga to the east coast via the Panama Canal. We stopped for extended periods along the way. We first spent the summer in the Sea of Cortez and then continued along the way through the Canal to San Blas Islands, Roatan, Belize, Isla Mujeres, and arrived in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. in July of 1999.  After 8 months we got married and trucked Malaga up to Boston where we stayed for a couple of years and then moved her down to Annapolis, Md. This is where she has been for the last 19 years.
While in Maryland I have rebuilt the cockpit, decks and cabin sides. I repowered the Perkins with a 25hp Beta Marine, built a hard dodger and thanks to Randall’s article I have replaced her bowsprit. Malaga has provided many memorable weekends of pleasure for myself, my wife and our two sons sailing the Chesapeake.  We look forward to cruising her again in our future retirement.
