"Raven"

1968 Mariner 31- Hull #3 (Prototype)
Owner: Mike Schifsky - Eastsound (San Juan Islands), WA - USA

This is about my fourth wooden boat restoration, and with the possible exception of a teak Cheoy Lee Frisco Flyer, the most well constructed boat I have owned.I bought Raven because we wanted a good cruising boat with standing head room in the cabin. We have cruised a fair bit now and Raven is everything I had hoped for.Raven was is rough shape when I bought her in May 2003, but mostly from a cosmetic standpoint. The decks had just been professionally redone in Port Townsend (thank god). This year I rewired her and refinished the hull and cabin. I have also added some electronics and a few personal touches.  I intend to do the spars next season, but the biggest improvement will be a Yanmar 3cyl engine to replace the worn out, noisy, and smokey Volvo MD11C.I am at least the third owner, but don’t know her history. I know she lived in S. Calif. for a while.
Raven is a great boat, and intend to keep her for quite awhile. The photo was taken in Mail Bay, Waldron Island, Wa.
I quite enjoy the Mariner website.
