Ravensong
Mariner 31 #83
Owner: Bill Hart
I was pleased to find a site for Mariner owners. I hope you continue to gain members. I forwarded it to "Good Old Boat" magazine and they have included it in their list of Associations.
We, my wife Ruth and I, bought ours about a year ago. We had gone to Monterey to look at a Jenneau ketch that was advertised in Latitude 38. While waiting for a ride out to the mooring we saw an ad in a chandlery for the Mariner. Appearance-wise
there was no comparison. The Jenneau looked like some kind of gray plastic appliance and the Mariner looked like the essence of sailboatness. Never mind that the Jenneau was totally no maintenance and the Mariner was seriously deck challenged, when we stepped below into that mahogany garden we were done for. The leaky decks were actually a blessing in that we could not have afforded the boat without the opportunity they gave for a lowball offer. I have to admit though after reading the description of the repairs to Springmoon I had seriously considered calling Dr. Kevorkian. I hope to start the repairs in late fall after the Channel Islands cruising season is over. I am sending along a couple of pictures of # 83 which we have decided to name "Ravensong"
