"Uhuru"
1966 Mariner 35, Hull# 31
Owners:Dianne Millius - Moss Landing, CA - USA
My name is Dianne Millius, and I am
the proud owner of a Mariner 35. Her name is Uhuru (Swahili for "freedom")
hull #31. Home port is Moss Landing, California.
I'm not privy to her entire history, but she was owned by the young man
I bought her from for 14 years. During that time he did a few much needed
structural repairs, and dismantled pretty much every system on the boat.
Bow sprit is off, transom is off, mizzen is off, engine is out....rebuilt,
but not replaced, and probably in need of new seals from sitting too long.
He wanted bigger scuppers, so the toe rails are the victim of a sawsall
from the stem to well under the taff rails.Tanks are gone.. all of them
except one water tank.. no electrical wiring, and the only plumbing left
is the drain in the galley sink... oh, and the outflow for the bilge pump
I put in. Every varnished surface, below decks and above, is in need of
complete refurbishing... down to bare wood. Even though she's been the victim
of a demolition derby and severe neglect, she's a worthy vessel with a sound
hull, and worth the effort to restore. Give me about 3 years to have her
back on the bay.
